NetHui 2011
Date: 29/06/2011 - 01/07/2011
This winter InternetNZ will provide a conference platform event called NetHui for New Zealanders to discuss and debate issues relating to the Internet.
Chief Executive Vikram Kumar says “This is a conference for everyone dealing with Internet-related issues in our society and economy. It is an opportunity for us to consider both the potential social and economic benefits as well as the continuing challenges the Internet provides New Zealand.”
The four main subject streams of 'Access and Diversity, 'Digital Citizenship', 'Governance and Legal', 'Government and Openness', 'Innovation and Emerging Issues' and 'Education' will lead participants to engage in relevant discussion across focused themes.
InternetNZ will act as a nucleus, with various interested people and organisations planning and running individual discussion areas. It is encouraging Kiwi organisations, businesses and their constituents to get involved in shaping the streams via its website.
Conference dates 29th June - 1st July, 2011, Auckland city.
Visit NetHui online for more information, planning discussion forums and to register your attendance.
Lessig to Keynote the event.
Harvard University Professor of Law and key founder of Creative Commons Lawrence Lessig will present at the NetHui conference. Below is an address he gave in to Word Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) at their Global Meeting on Emerging Copyright Licensing Modalities in November 2010.

Those interested in Creative Commons in New Zealand - whether you are a creator, reuser or steward of copyright works - can join us freely on Thursday evening directly after the last conference session. It will be a chance to meet others engaged in CC related issues, ask questions, and see some examples of people utilising the licences.
